Halloween!
We all had a great time. It was pretty cold but we bundled up in layers and stayed out about an hour. The boys use the same pumpkins year after year and they are fabric pumpkins with a little bit of wire spiraling around inside - so they are pretty flimsy and they don't hold much candy. Good thing! I didn't say anything to Henrique & Bryant about their candy until afterwards but I told them that next year they could trade in their candy to for 10ยข each (Thanks for the idea Deanna!) They thought that was a great idea! Henrique would have made $8.60 and Bryant would have made $9.20.
Last week I talked with Henry & Lincoln and they know we are limiting our sugar so I took them shopping and they were able to pick out things in exchange for their candy. Henry picked out a addition timed game thing and some flash/game cards. Lincoln picked out a Dora the Explorer activity book and lacing cards. They happily handed over their candy when we got home to open their new items. Lincoln sat right down and did 6 lacing cards! Henry worked on his addition until I insisted it was bedtime. It was 9pm at this point.
BUT right after TOT, we went to Lidia's apartment because Arturo, Celso's BIL was having a birthday dinner. Mariela (Celso's sister) fixed shrimp in pumpkin seed sauce. It was different but too rich to really enjoy it. I did eat it but I wouldn't request it myself. So we ate a nice dinner there, Arturo and Mariela enjoyed seeing all the boys in costume and requested pictures. We stayed for a bit after dinner, ate cake then went home.
I'd say we had a great Halloween evening!
This is from Halloween night just as we headed out for trick r treating.The clown costume Lincoln wore was my costume my mom made for me. I think I was about 5 years old when I wore it. It was big on him but I pinned the legs up so he wouldn't step on the fabric. He was SO cute! But you can see that for yourself.
Henry went to a Halloween party Saturday night and this was his costume for that:
