Ack.... 10 days since I've blogged. Let me pull out my calendar and see what's happened.
The weekend of the 3rd/4th we went camping. Henry, Lincoln and I along with 2 other families from my parenting group. We went to Knob Noster state park which was about 1.5 hours away. I would have drove twice that far to get to someplace that had water. It was 100+ Saturday and Sunday and that was just too much... for sitting outside, playing around and not having a body of water to cool off in. PLUS on Saturday after lunch we decided to do a trail hike. We looked at the map and picked the 2/3 of a mile trail. Fine. Good. EXCEPT WE DIDN'T DO THAT TRAIL! AAAHHHHH! We got off that trail and got onto one that was 2 MILES! In 100 degree heat! It was not fun... we all ran out of water early on, Lincoln tuckered out early and Jeff was our savior and carried Lincoln on his shoulders more than half the hike. Thank you Jeff! Henry even was fizzling out towards the end so I carried Lincoln and Jeff gave Henry a piggy back ride. When Jeff offered Henry didn't believe him... thought he was too big to be carried. heehee If Jeff hadn't been there and willing to carry my kids, oh my, I don't like to think about what would have happened.
What was nice about this trip was the company :o) Jeff and Laura and their one year old daughter Elise. Tracy, Virgil and their 15 year old son Taylor and their baby girl Ruth. We also shared the meal responsibilities. Tracy provided the lunch on Saturday, Jeff cooked dinner and I did breakfast on Sunday. If we cooked then someone else did the dishes. Worked out great!
The drive was short so that was a plus… I really dislike driving.
Monday the 7th I took off from work and played all day! No kids!
Last week was Henry’s last full week with the Field Trip Club. Today is his last day. Last they did: Wallace & Gromit, Cabella’s, ice cream floats at this new awesome T-Rex café!, Museum of History, movie Curious George, cold treats at Sam’s club, movie Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, JoCo County Fair, roller skating and Powell Gardens for the Festival of Butterflies. Pick up 3 days was at Burger King, their favorite joint. They get to pick anything off the menu J Friday she let them get anything plus ordered fries for everyone to split.
Today its raining so they are seeing a movie I think then eating strawberry shortcake at Ruby Tuesday.
Saturday Henrique, Henry, Lincoln and I went to the JoCo fair to watch the parade. It was hot but it could have been a lot worse. We met some friends down there, went to have lunch with them afterwards and then went back to the house to hang out some. That night Celso took all 4 boys to a birthday party and I went to the hospital to visit a friend. It wasn't under the conditions I would have liked but we did have a really nice visit.
School starts Wednesday with a half a day… 8:25-11:40am. Thursday is their first full day…
8:25-3:35pm.
I did super with my vacation/sick time this year. I’m super stingy with it and save, save, save. (Why can’t I be that good with money?) My work anniversary is August 28th so I have to use my days before that… use ‘em or loose ‘em. So I get to take tomorrow and Wednesday off and then Monday the 21st and Friday the 25th. I’m happy that I get to take the kids Wednesday and pick them up.
I’m trying to work up the nerve to ask my big boss man to let me skip my lunches and leave at 3pm every day so I can pick up Henry from school or at least be home when he gets home. Henrique & Bryant will be walking home with him and I’m not ready for them to stay alone quite yet. Maybe later in the year but not to start off with.
Saturday night I got a call from my church asking if I’d be interested in teaching Sunday school this year. I said I think that I would so I agreed to go to training yesterday after worship and Sunday school. As soon as I saw the requirements and expectations I then realized what I had got myself into. I’ve volunteered for various kid things before but I was just another adult present to help crown control. Haha. Now I’ll be the actual teacher, having to plan my lessons and teach and lead. Oh boy. Not what I expected but I’m still excited, leery of the long commitment I’ve made but I’ll manage. Henry is very excited!
After church we went home for a quick lunch then I took Henry to a birthday party for one of his friends at Pump It Up.
Today marks the start of the “busy” season for me/us. School and soccer start along with the many, MANY other activities that go along with school.
Tonight is “sneek-a-peek” night at school where they meet their teacher and see the classroom. Tomorrow I don’t work and will be hanging out with the boys all day. Wednesday I don’t work and will get to take and pick up from school that day. Wednesday night is Henry’s first soccer practice. Thursday is their first day of school and that night is Lincolns last session with is fanstically-fabulous, speech therapist. She came last Thursday and when she left Lincoln said “I luvv Ms. Paula” We all do really.
Friday is school and soccer practice that night.
Saturday I hope to take all the boys swimming… at night we’re going to a BBQ with another family. Sunday is “church day” as the boys call it.
Next week we have 2 back-to-school nights, Henry has a dentist appt, Celso has a sports seminar to go to and the 26th soccer games start!
