I went to jail today - AND had a good time and it was all for a worthy cause.
I raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and turned my money in today. There is still time to donate so if you haven't given (I emailed nearly everyone in my email address book) please do consider giving. Click here to visit my MDA webpage.
I was picked up at work by a nice young gentleman who works for the MDA in his borrowed 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Went to a local pub and had a nice little lunch and was returned back to work in a limo. Ridin in style! The whole thing was fun and I feel good that it was all volunteers putting it together for a good cause.
Oh! I'm picking up a digital camera Saturday from Freecycler! Eeee! I'm so excited. It's an older one, from 2000, but hey who am I to be picky?! Getting a free digital camera! Yahoo! Look for pictures next week.
Celso and I are trying to go camping over Memorial Day weekend. We have several problems 1) Money. Not an easy nor, quick fix. 2)Transportation. Our family van is not reliable. It needs a new transmission and at $1300 it seems impossible. Soonest we'll see that kinda of money is next year when we get our income tax refund. I do drive the van daily but I can't take it over 60mph and even at that it does get over-heated and I have to pull over and let it cool off before driving more. Our other vehicle, that Celso drives to work with, isn't even ours. Our other car is the Subaru Legacy station wagon and it has been in the transmission shop since last August! Yes, August 2005! Cripes sake, talk about slow. Celso traded work with this guy and he's taking his sweet ass time. He "fixed" it once but reverse went out within days of us getting it back so he's been refixing it since August. So if we do go, and I really want to go, then we'll take that van and boy is it a crapper. Dirty, stinky piece of crap.
3)Location, the least of my worries but I'm spending more time on this problem. Oh where to go! My #1 pick is Cedar Camp. Pictures on the site look nice and it is only 2.5-3 hours away. Big in my book. My #2 pick is RedBeard's Ranch. I emailed this lady and I got the most impressive, detailed, friendly email back 10 minutes later! Just off her email I want to go and give them my business! Plus their website looks very nice. I did email Cedar Camp/#1 and got a decent reply back but wasn't nearly as "selling" as the one from RedBeard's ranch. How odd is it that I'm shopping online for an outdoor getaway. hmm. Their pictures are breath-taking and even more beautiful but it is 5 hours away and it is a class I river... Celso would like to go to a class II river (and so would I) but we might not even canoe so what does the speed of the river matter? That first place has canoes for $28 which is a good price. Where as #2 has canoes for $35. Like I said, what to do! what to do!
